Vice Rice.
I'm a fan of Condi, and she is a foreign relations expert. A McCain-Rice ticket would be a foreign relations juggernaut. As ready for change as the nation may be, if it's McCain-Rice the Democrats may be in trouble if the focus of the election becomes foreign relations. Imagine Hillary and Rice debating in October. It would be historic.
While we know that McCain is not all that conservative and, therefore, needs a conservative as a running mate to woo conservative voters, but how conservative is Rice? No one really knows. Might it be more important to the Republicans that they have a diverse ticket as opposed to an über-conservative ticket? I doubt it, but this should be interesting.

btw do you REALLY think she would accept a vp spot? i doubt it, she wants to be president and nothing else. shes so egotistical and represents politics as usual, dont think that would be a good idea on his part.
if he were to win i think he either goes with edwards, or tim kaine (va governor). wesley clark would be nice because that would give him a 400 pound gorilla in the foreign policy fight, but he endorsed clinton, so who knows. what i would like to see would be michael bloomberg, you want an economic boost? get a financial genius in the mix. but i think hes waiting to run in 2012

and sure hillary is egotistical but i'm not convinced that she is so egotistical as to not possibly be the first woman vp--something that could satisfy her ego.
i do agree, though, that having clinton on the ticket may not be the best move. the thought of her back in the white house whether as president or vp will mobilize republicans, even disenchanted ones, and other voters (independents) who despise hillary.
as the secretary of state she has been the face of the last few years of foreign policy and i think most people outside of hardcore right wingers will agree foreign policy has been a disaster. i dont think bringing in someone from the bush administration is a good idea to sway the swing voters
also as for clinton, its like you said shes gone from a sure thing to collapsing upon herself.
if she is VP and obama wins she cant run for president until 2016, shell be 69 years old then
if she runs as vp and obama loses, he will want to run again in 2012, no way she runs against him after running as his vp
if she loses the nomination her only shot to be president is obama losing the general election and having this show down again in 2012. she seems like the kind of person who wants to be president because its the ultimate political goal, not for the sake of accomplishing anything
